Expression and
politeness are important for communication
Expression has been many
defined. (Drs. Soeharto:1996) the expression is a facial expression or facial
impression. Carlson's (2004) definition of expression face is individual
behavior that describes an emotion he is feeling. In general, the expression is
a facial expression that shows one's feelings. Sometimes only by looking at a
person's face and reading their movements will we understand how that person
feels. Communication can be understood by both parties. Communication is embodiment of human
expression about what he thinks and feels both in form verbal and non verbal. Communicators
and communicants must speak with proper manners do not hurt each other's feelings, namely
gently, honestly, according to facts and at the time and the right space. When this concept is used by both parties, it
rewards and appreciates from both parties will appear and the effect will give
birth to efficient and effective communication.Use polite language and can be
understood by the other person and can adjust the style language and
environment.
For example, when talking to a lecturer we will use the words that are more
formal and polite in delivery, but different when we communicate with friends peers
may use more casual language. Thus we
are able to position ourselves and adjust the communication style according to
the characteristics of the interlocutor it should be. Use culturally appropriate non-verbal
communication such as shaking hands, ducking, respect, kiss right cheek-kiss
left cheek. Gives facial expressions,
gestures that are friendly, polite reasonable and not made up / reasonable.
In sociolinguistics and conversation
analysis (CA), politeness strategies are speech acts that express concern for others and
minimize threats to self-esteem ("face") in particular social
contexts. Be kind and friendly towards the other person. There are some manners matters that is
considered in communicating. For
example, greeting the other person politely and not excessive and
contrived. Using a call / designation of
a person who is kind and attentive volume, tone, voice intonation and speaking
rate. Speak in a steady voice, not too
quietly and not too fast so that the interlocutor can understand.
Always be polite in speaking and act,
knowing how to carry yourself when talking to others and the time where to be
serious and time to play around, Attitude like this is very important because many
people who are serious when they play or vice versa. Dress neat and clean and odorless, use
appropriate clothing and according to the circumstances and must cover the
genitals so that the other person feels comfortable. Because when we wear inappropriate clothes or
Smelling will make the other person uncomfortable and irritated and will not be
interested with our talk.
