The Audio-Lingual Method: An Easy way of Achieving Speech (Journal Review)

·         The AudioLingual method teaches language through dialogues that focus on habit formation of students.
·         The Audio-Lingual method aims to develop communicative competence of students through dialogues. Dialogues and pattern drills that students need to repeat are used to form habits in learners that will allow them to develop quick and automatic responses.
·         Drills are useful in foreign language teaching in that they give students the opportunity to perform what they have learnt.


-          With the Audiolingual method the teacher might complain about the amount of time needed (long), and students will complain about the boredom caused by the drill pattern that is constantly being used.

ü  The goal of the AudioLingual method is, via teaching vocabulary and grammatical patterns through dialogues, to enable students to respond quickly and accurately in spoken language. The dialogues are learnt through repetition and such drills as repetition, backward build-up, chain, substitution, transformation, and question-and-answer are conducted based upon the patterns in the dialogue.


-          Techniques used in Audiolingual methods such as drill, memorization, etc. may make the language a behavior, but it does not produce the expected competence


ü  The Audio-Lingual Method aims to develop communicative competence of students using dialogues and drills. The use of dialogues and drills are effective in foreign language teaching.

The Audio-Lingual Method and Speech Development The Audio-Lingual method focuses on oral skills. It aims to improve students’ speaking achievement. Language items are presented to students in spoken form without reference to the mother tongue so that they can learn language skills effectively.

Education System In Jordan

Primary Education is an Educational program in Jordan consisting of 2 years of pre-school education, ten years of basic education and 2 years of either an academic or secondary vocational high school.   Elementary school is integrated with so-called secondary education elsewhere.   Scholars can attend private or public schools. Secondary Education in Jordan is that academic high schools are still beset by class and gender discrimination.   Students study there for 2 years after that they can register to continue to university.   Subjects include Arabic, biology, chemistry, computer science, earth science, English, mathematics, physics, social science, and Islamic studies (except Christianity).
